Featuring former professional rugby league footballer and Foxsports commentator Ben Ikin

The first of our Ipswich City Luncheon Series aims to bring together a diverse range of local corporate businesses and people from all facets of the Ipswich community. The luncheons provide the opportunity for attendees to connect and converse in the City’s most up-to-the-moment entertainment destination while providing a platform to bring inspirational, talented and humorous speakers to Ipswich.

Attendees will enjoy pre-luncheon drinks on the terrace followed by a 2-course menu featuring locally sourced fresh produce and accompanied by a beverage package of local wines and beer. The highlight of this first luncheon is a keynote speech by former professional rugby league footballer and Foxsports commentator Ben Ikin.

Ben’s presentations are a mix of sport and business, intertwined with some enriching life experiences (he’d bought, run and sold a hotel by the age of 28). There’s no clichéd rhetoric, just homespun wisdom developed over 10 years of top level sport. Wisdom that’s as applicable to aspiring young athletes as it is to high level corporates and everyone in between.

Ben Ikin is a former professional rugby league footballer who played 150 games in the NRL with the Gold Coast Seagulls, North Sydney Bears and Brisbane Broncos. He represented Queensland 17 times and played 2 tests for Australia, and still holds the record as the youngest player ever to play State of Origin football.

Following a triumphant football career, Ben spent 5 years as a rugby league commentator for the Nine Network and co-host of The Sunday Footy Show. He has also worked for 10 years in various senior commercial roles in the property and construction industry but now works full-time in the media with Foxsports and Triple M.
