Ipswich City CouncilFestival of Theatre MediaRecruiting for apprentices 15 August 2007
IPSWICH Civic Hall is set to be the venue for the 2007 Apprenticeship Recruitment Evening on October 23 this year. Mayor Paul Pisasale said council had today agreed to provide the Department of Education, Training and Arts (Education and Training Reforms for the Future) with the use of the Civic Hall for the event. "The importance of attracting young people to the trades is never as important with the boom time being experienced in Ipswich at the moment. "With the projected population growth in the western corridor over the next 20 years, employment creation to meet this demand will be a key issue for the future economic viability of Ipswich. "Council is continuing to work in partnership with the region's education and training providers to demonstrate our commitment to employment creation and job opportunities in the Ipswich region. Council will also provide a static corporate display to promote employment opportunities and council services at this event," Cr Pisasale said. "This annual recruitment evening presents an opportunity for young people to meet face-to-face with employers looking for apprentices, trainees and cadets. "In this day and age the young people can be employed full-time, part-time or school-based. "The event is free to exhibitors and offers a forum for local employers to directly meet with students/school leavers and their parents/carers, mature age students and the general community to provide information about career opportunities. "This is an excellent opportunity for council to work in partnership with local businesses to demonstrate council's commitment to employment creation and job opportunities in the Ipswich region." The 2007 Apprenticeship Recruitment Evening on October 23 will commence at 6.30pm. -ENDS-
