Online Theatre Bookings Take Off at Civic Hall

FESTIVAL of Theatre customers are letting their fingers do the walking with Ipswich Civic Hall's new internet ticketing service proving extremely popular.

In January alone, more than 400 customers from throughout Ipswich, Brisbane and beyond have purchased over 2100 tickets to the 18 Festival of Theatre events which are currently on sale.

Arts, Community and Cultural Services Committee Chairperson, Councillor Charlie Pisasale, said internet ticket sales in the year to date totalled more than $50,000.

"More than 25% of Festival of Theatre customers are now booking over the newly released internet booking system," Cr Pisasale said.

"It just goes to show how many people prefer the convenience of booking tickets online.

"Not only does it take away the need to physically travel to the Box Office, but online bookings can also be made 24/7 rather than only during office hours.

"With the busy lifestyles that so many of us now lead, internet ticketing is a great option that we can utilise from the comfort of our own homes."

Festival of Theatre online bookings are available by visiting the website at http://www.ipswichcivichall.com.au/ and following the prompts.

Cr Pisasale said one of the many exciting events on offer as part of the 2008 Festival of Theatre program was "Spectacular China" on Thursday 3 April.

"With Chinese New Year celebrations currently in full swing, people with an interest in the fascinating Chinese culture won't want to miss this show," he said.

"Billed as ‘A Taste of the Beijing Olympic Festival', this powerful and captivating stage show takes audiences on a journey through the rich and timeless dynasties that have captured the western world for hundreds if not thousands of years.

"Through a dynamic combination of dance, acrobatics, kung fu, music and song, China's most acclaimed and celebrated performers will have you transfixed and entranced from the very first moment."
