Budget 2008-2009: Civic Hall abuzz with entertainment

SHANNON Noll, Dance of Colours, Grease, Sara Storer and the Delltones are among the shows listed for July at Ipswich Civic Hall.

Arts, Community and Cultural Services Committee Chairperson, Councillor Charlie Pisasale said the hall had reinvented itself over the past few years with a comprehensive Festival of Theatre program to cater for all tastes and ages of theatre goers.

"Renovations have seen additions which can change the venue from a premier entertainment venue into a community focused function centre overnight," he said.

"Further upgrades of presentation equipment in the downstairs function rooms will result in a further increase in bookings for conferences and business presentations at the facility.

"Not only does it offer an extensive year-round program of local, national and international theatre events, it also continues to provide a range of services and facilities to a wide cross-section of the local community.

"In doing so, it has re-positioned itself as a multi-faceted centre catering for the Ipswich community and providing a drawcard for tourists and visitors.

"The Festival of Theatre program has positioned Ipswich Civic Hall as a top class entertainment centre for the region while maintaining its connection with the local community."

Cr Pisasale said the Festival of Theatre program of events had been exceptional with many acts so popular they were booked out months in advance.

"The entertainment just keeps on getting better and the venue is being used more than ever. Of note it is pleasing to see an ever increasing number of patrons coming from across South East Queensand."
