Acoustic Guitar Spectacular 2018

Presented by Ipswich Civic Centre and Red Chair

A hand-picked group of internationally recognised acoustic guitarists from across the globe join forces to weave memorable musical magic. Internationally acclaimed Brisbane acoustic guitarist Michael Fix, recently named as one of Australia’s Top 25 Guitarists of All Time by readers of Guitarist Australia magazine, will be joined by high-energy Italian virtuoso Andrea Valeri, and Queensland’s own funky finger-stylist Sarah Koppen for a series of very special concerts.

Concerts are structured so that each player will feature as solo artists, as well as performing as an ensemble, allowing plenty of opportunity for spontaneity and improvisation. Three players with such diverse musical backgrounds present amazing possibilities, and incredible variety for audiences.

Each guitarist is known for their ability to entertain, and each present their music with a view to engage and delight audiences with stories, songs, and humour, (as well as fretboard fireworks!), making it a performance aimed for all people, not just ‘guitar aficionados’.

This is a rare opportunity to see such a wealth of amazing musical talent on the one stage. In particular, it’s a unique chance to see one of the international young stars of the global acoustic guitar scene.

The team at the Acoustic Guitar Spectacular are offering the Ipswich community the chance to perform with the production at this performance! Each guitarist will have one-on-one mentoring with either Andrea Valeri, Sarah Koppen of Michael Fix.

To be eligible, applicants must be an Ipswich resident.
