Ceri McCoy is a Welsh born, Australian based multi-instrumentalist and composer who uses his talent to promote cross-cultural understanding.

His recent Album Gnosis represents his own take on music with material as diverse as 16th century Finnish carols to jazz originals, and traditional Celtic songs to classical tone poems.

Ceri was born in Cyntwell, Wales. He came with his parents to live in Australia at an early age and was fascinated with the stories of life and culture that his parents (Welsh speaking mother & Welsh/West Indian descent Father) told him. The duality of this upbringing is clearly reflected in his career pursuits. He has the greatest respect for people who take the time to preserve, promote and innovate in the Arts, especially traditional art forms, and sees this as a very important aspect of Australia and the World, both now and in the future.

Ceri has toured Australia extensively and throughout his career has performed and recorded a diverse range of work, collaborating with many artists across different cultures & Artforms. His most notable achievements include arranging the horn section and performing with rock legends The Saints at UQ as part of the QMF Festival production Pig City, based on Andrew Stafford’s book of the same name; playing the Sydney Opera House and QPAC; supporting artists Steel Pulse, Andy Irvine, Angelique Kidjo, Lucky Dube, The Bhundu Boys, Lunasa,The Battlefield Band, Clannad and gazillions of  others…

This performance is located at Studio 188
188 Brisbane Street, Ipswich
