Douglas Webster brings his high-ranging baritone and low-reaching humor, singing opera and classical favourites to Broadway standards and other memorable tunes.
Amidst the music, he will share stories of an itinerant musical life ranging from the mountains of Colorado to an audience with a Saint and a Metropolitan Opera stage debut literally singing in a shower.
As winner of the Concert Artists Guild and Joy In Singing Awards, Douglas Webster performed over two hundred concerts across forty-six of the fifty United States. That’s a lot of miles in a rental Buick.
HE’S GOT IT ALL: THE HIGHS, THE LOWS, THE LOOK AND THE CROON (Leonard Bernstein)
DOUGLAS WEBSTER SINGS WITH CONVICTION, HIS RICH, DARK TONE AN IDEAL COMPLEMENT TO THE STRING SOUND. THE FRENCH SONGS ENJOY THE BEST OF HIS INTERPRETIVE SKILLS; HIS COMMAND OF THE DIFFICULT PHRASING AND HIS USE OF COLOR AND INFLECTION ARE A MARVEL AND DESERVE THE HIGHEST CRITICAL PRAISE (Classics Today)
WEBSTER’S BARITONE IS BEAUTIFULLY FOCUSED AND RICH, TILTING TOWARDS THE TENOR SIDE OF THE RANGE, WITH PLENTY OF POWER IN RESERVE… THE UNFAILING COMBINATION OF NATURAL MUSICALITY, A FINE INSTRUMENT, GOOD TRAINING AND GOOD TASTE (The Buffalo News)
