Reflectiv, AspirA music and Sunadham presents…

The June edition of Global Echoes – Unique Sounds features Daniel Philippe, Chiho and Murali Ramakrishnan.

Have you ever wondered how a nyckelharpa resonates, or the enchanting melodies a crystal armonica can produce? How about immersing yourself in the rich tones of a saz, the soulful breath of a mey, or the tranquil flow of a bansuri?

Featured musicians include:

Daniel Philippe –

Daniel Philippe’s musical journey started at eight years old when his parents recognised his talent for piano and took him for lessons. His interest was immediately piqued and to this day has never waned. Daniel’s early interest in music has evolved into over thirty years of performing and teaching music. He has performed in a variety of styles ranging from jazz to classical to rock, in ensembles and as a soloist. Most recently he has branched out into intercultural collaborations of spiritual music as part of his Masters degree. As well as live performance, Daniel has played on many recordings in different styles, including releasing his own ambient jazz albums under the name Reflectiv.

Chiho –

Chiho is a qualified sound healer, she translates the energy of the group into an improvised piece suitable for that very moment on the Crystal Armonica, crystal bowls and her voice with other instruments. People have experienced all types of healing by way of Chiho’s sound automatic movement resulting in trauma release which happens often when people’s pineal gland is stimulated by the Armonica and her voice. She has been performing and offering sound healing and chanting / kirtan internationally at yoga studios, events, schools and festivals for over two decades.

Murali Ramakrishnan –

Murali Ramakrishnan stands as one of the senior artists in Australia’s Indian musical landscape, renowned for his mastery and versatility as an Indian classical flautist specialising in both Venu and Bansuri flutes. Murali’s flute renditions are characterised by their melodious intricacy, offering a harmonious blend of both Carnatic and Hindustani styles. His bansuri playing is celebrated for its meditative spirit, captivating audiences, and resonating deeply with the soul. A seasoned performer, Murali has graced stages not only across Australia but also on international platforms. His solo performances showcase the depth of his musical prowess, while his collaborations have added a sublime dimension to various classical dance forms, including Kuchipudi, Bharatanatyam, Kathak, and Mohiniattam.
