Vocalist Erin Fitzsimon is captivating. Whether fronting an upbeat seven-piece band or performing an emotionally engaging solo set, Erin charms and sparkles with charismatic stage presence and unique, soulful delivery.
The Erin Fitzsimon Quartet is a group who have all previously or are currently studying jazz at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University. The group play together on a regular basis and are playing gigs around their local scene. The quartet play an array of music originated from jazz backgrounds, including popular standards to hidden jazz classics however also experiment with newer/popular tunes and arrange them to fit a jazz setting. Although the group are young, their combined interest in jazz and overall passion for music allows the ensemble to give a unique and enjoyable performance.
Erin was trained as a jazz saxophonist before discovering a love of performance and song writing at the Queensland Conservatorium, where she has recently completed her Bachelor of Music in Jazz Voice. Her background as an instrumentalist has provided novel perspective on harmony and song writing techniques. Mixing simplistic chords with jazz inspired vocals, it is not just her bright pink hair that highlights Erin’s individual and exciting approach to music and performance.
