iLMusic: World Jam @ Studio 188

Ipswich Live Music presents…

The iLMusic concert theme for October is World Jam – we are going global, and celebrating music from Cuba, Namibia, Argentina, Brazil, France and Germany. Whew!

As always, our amazingly versatile house band “The Knockout Collective” will feature some of the best international singers in the ‘Swich.

Our guest acts will include the amazing Nelsom Mansilla Alvarez and friends. Nelson is an award-winning flamenco guitarist and music producer, and leader of various international music projects including the fabulous Mad Mariachi. His band includes musicians from Argentina and Brazil who bring the flavours of their musical roots to the performance.

We also have the wonderfully flamboyant African drummer Joseph Matovu, percussionist, vocalist, instrumentalist and African traditional choreographer.

Ipswich City Council has transformed the historic Old Baptist Church into the intimate, well renowned performing arts venue, Studio 188. Offering a year-round program of art, culture and entertainment in the heart of Ipswich, Studio 188 boasts a flexible space, regular live music gigs, artist residencies and creative development workshops where big ideas are hatched and people come together in ways that connect and inspire. 

Studio 188 is the home for local artists and community folk to foster industry connections, gain exposure and develop new works, with regular free workshops and programs.
