Julian Homewood is a charismatic and thought-provoking musician from Gubbi Gubbi Country, Sunshine Coast. Julian now leads The Homewood Sapiens, an eclectic ensemble that blends cosmic country, psychedelic folk, and jazz elements.

This unique fusion crafts an immersive soundscape, with soaring harmonies, intricate rhythms, and mesmerizing melodies.

Each live show is a unique experience, influenced by the diverse talents of The Homewood Sapiens, blending the nostalgia of the 60’s and 70’s psychedelia with country, folk, rock and roll and jazz, reminiscent of a Quentin Tarantino soundtrack to a psychedelic Western masterpiece.

Julian’s music explores themes of love, death, nature, and spirituality, with his unique perspective through intricate story telling.

Over the past 16 years, Julian has played in various bands across Australia, and his music has been featured on popular radio stations like Double J.

Having performed at top festivals such as Woodford Festival, Yonder Festival, Caloundra Music Festival, Julian continues to push musical boundaries with his ever-evolving sound.

ARIA-nominated trio East of West explores the borderlands between genres through their intricate contemporary compositions and improvisations. Led by Bosnian-born composer Goran Gajić (double bass), with Philip Griffin (oud, laouto) and Malindi Morris (percussion), East of West’s music primarily draws from the rich musical influences of the Balkans and Mediterranean, creating beautiful story-telling melodies spun over traditional rhythms, open solos, and improvisation. Deeply in tune with its own sound, East of West’s music questions boundaries and borders, reaching across them to touch the minds and hearts of its listeners.

Ipswich City Council has transformed the historic Old Baptist Church into the intimate, well renowned performing arts venue, Studio 188. Offering a year-round program of art, culture and entertainment in the heart of Ipswich, Studio 188 boasts a flexible space, regular live music gigs, artist residencies and creative development workshops where big ideas are hatched and people come together in ways that connect and inspire. 

Studio 188 is the home for local artists and community folk to foster industry connections, gain exposure and develop new works, with regular free workshops and programs.
