One of Australia’s favourite singers and composers, Karen Knowles has been touching the hearts of millions of Australians for decades.

After becoming a household name during a 6 year stint on much loved iconic television show Young Talent Time (YTT) where she cemented her position in the hearts and minds of so many Australians all over the country, Karen went on to become Australia’s highest selling female artist for two consecutive years. Signed to Ron Tudor’s iconic Fable label when she was just 16, Karen’s first single Why Won’t You Explain went gold making her the first Australian schoolgirl to receive a gold record. Her follow up album You are the Reason achieved platinum status and Loves Us all the follow up album also went gold. Karen has ever since continued to record and has performed in solo concerts around the country and overseas.

In 1990 she was asked to join the legendary group The Seekers and toured with the group nationally and internationally. During her successful stint with The Seekers Karen recorded with Bruce Woodley and the National Boys Choir the iconic song I Am Australian and has since performed this wonderful song at various award ceremonies and concerts around Australia.

Karen was appointed in 1997 as one of the Inaugural Ambassadors for Reconciliation by the Australian Reconciliation Council together with former Prime Ministers Gough Whitlam and Malcolm Fraser, Evonne Cawley and Slim Dusty,

Karen continues to share her joy of music presenting musical performances and events around Australia and overseas to the delight of her audience. Her recording and performance career now spans 40 years.

Karen’s most recent recordings her 7th studio album Solid Ground (karenknowles.com.au/solidground) and 8th studio album Sanctuary represent a new soft connected musical direction featuring new compositions dedicated to Mother Earth. Solid Ground includes three authorised sacred songs of the Wirradjirri people that Karen is honoured to have been asked to record by Min Mia (Wirradjirri elder and lore carrier). The recordings enable these sacred songs to be stewarded, and at Min Mia’s request, gifted to the women of Australia and then shared and sung by the people of the world for the benefit of all of creation.
