Community Listening Party and Single Launch Concert….

Milly & the Maths Show invite you to join the band for a night of music, craft and community in the hallowed halls of Studio 188, in celebration of their latest single launch. Fronted by female singer songwriter Milly Sargeant, the band features a powerhouse lineup of intergenerational talent — Eva Fritz on keys, Dave (Bud) Beckett, on bass, Ziggy Sargeant on drums, and Mitchell Bell on lead guitar. Together, they weave intricate sonic textures and emotionally resonant melodies that echo the whimsical beauty of Joanna Newsom, the theatrical depth of Kate Bush, the honesty of Paul Kelly, and the atmospheric pulse of Radiohead. Defined by their devotion to honest storytelling, emotional vulnerability and a commitment to creating community through art, the project explores themes of war and peace, intergenerationality, love, psychological struggles, separation, grief, resilience and hope.

Off the back of their current RADF-supported recording project at The Moon Room studios, this single launch will serve as an invitation to share the band’s current body of work, in a room filled with homely furniture, craft activities and time to connect with the band. Come for a live listening party, followed by time to mingle, create and connect with the musicians and other locals. The band hopes that each audience member will go home with a renewed sense of community, belonging and inspiration to build bridges with others and create their own art.

This event is supported by the Regional Arts Development Fund, a partnership between the Queensland Government and Ipswich City Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland
