Studio 188, Fat Cat Music Group and Arts Queensland present…
From the initial unveiling of his debut single ‘Lullabye’ feat. Akacia that welcomed over 200,000 plays in its first month, proud First Nations electronic artist Moss had begun cementing his bass-driven footprint in his motherland of Australia and beyond. With a production foundation that has seen the likes of Marshmallow, Yellow Claw, Jauz and more drop fully-fledged support, the October Records producer has positioned himself as a producer capable of rubbing shoulders with some of the world’s best.
Tapping into incredibly emotive, cinematic and heavy-hitting elements with his work, Moss has infused a true bass energy, delivering seamless output. Taking out the Triple J Unearthed DIYSupergroup competition for ‘Sabre Teeth’, while also seeing it hit #1 on their charts, the single led to an official release featuring Ghanaian-Australian and multi award nominated singer Genesis Owusu. With a full arsenal of music in the bank, 2023 saw his take on the ever-powerful hit record ‘Solid Rock’ alongside collaborators Goanna, Tasman Keith and William Barton, garnered industry support from the likes of triple j, Rolling Stone Australia and Urban List, not to mention becoming the theme to the NRL’s 2023 Indigenous Round & the closing recording for 2023’s Brisbane Riverfire soundtrack. Commanding attention across his catalogue, his recent release ‘Strictly 4 Tha’ alongside UK rap giant Example on the iconic EDM label Monstercat, saw them tour the country together after racking up nearly half a million streams.
Not shy of leaving the studio and taking to the festival stage, 2024 has seen Moss featured on prominent bills including Rabbits Eat Lettuce, Wildlands, Ability Fest & more while also recently being hand picked by Ableton for their Live 11 launch showcase in Sydney, all the while devoting his anomalous vision to breaking boundaries across the electronic scene.
Moss will be supported by Scraps!
Meanjin/Brisbane “dehydrated disco” producer Laura Hill draws from a persuasive mood-board of cubist synth-pop, and disaster fascination. Her synthesis of raw rhythms, sequencer intuition, and echo-soaked storytelling hone and decay- heatwaving between low-lidded new wave, woozy acid ballads, and alienated karaoke. Keep it steady, come into the world of SCRAPS.
This program is supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.
