MZAZA is one of the most unique bands coming out of Australia today. Exploring their French, Spanish-Sephardic and Balkan roots MZAZA reinvent folk traditions and draws you into a world where music knows no borders.
Led by French-Sephardic vocalist Pauline Maudy, this multi-award-winning folk group with members from France, Bosnia, Brazil, New Zealand and Australia harness ancestral influences to embrace diversity, the old and the new, the familiar and the foreign.
The impressive musicianship – deftly realised with accordion, violin, shah kaman (Persian spike-fiddle), guitar, double bass & percussion – fuels their intense stage shows as they craft a snapshot of contemporary Australia’s rich multicultural make-up.
Songlines Magazine describes their music as, “Punchy, energetic and suffused with joy”.
