An afternoon of Jazz
Come and enjoy a musical afternoon of big band classic from New Groove Jazz Ensemble as they get you swinging and clapping to their 2018 concert In the Mood.
Join New Groove at Ipswich Civic Centre on Sunday 25 March for two hours of afternoon entertainment. Bring your dancing shoes and hit the dance floor, or sit back and enjoy the music as we take you through popular songs from big band, swing, latin, blues, funk, and rock.
New Groove Jazz Ensemble has been entertaining Brisbane music lovers since 1997. The 20-piece big band is formed of local community members who are passionate about keeping jazz music alive in Brisbane and surrounding districts.
About New Groove
New Groove Jazz Ensemble regularly plays on the second Sunday of every month at Sandgate Town Hall, and also performs at Brisbane Jazz Club and other community events throughout the year.
Local singers Trina Lincoln and Vin Paradis lead the band through popular big band songs, featuring big band, swing, latin, blues, funk, and rock. The band is capably led by Musical Director, Ken Lincoln, who was a member of the Royal Australian Navy Band for 26 years.
About Ken Lincoln, Musical Director
Ken was a member of the Royal Australian Navy Band from 1977 until 2003. He received the John Stucas Memorial Award for the highest Navy qualifier on the Group Leader’s course, and received an Australia Day award for his leadership of the Queensland Naval Band.
Ken is proficient on the clarinet, saxophone, flute, piano, percussion and bass guitar He has played alongside Don Burrows, James and John Morrison, Andy Firth, Ed Wilson, Paul Panichi, Jeff Jarvis and many others. He also composes and arranges music, with New Groove regularly playing his arrangements.
