Presented by Ipswich Civic Centre
MC comedian Anthony Lamond, brings comedy to Ipswich in the monthly Stitch in the ‘swich series.
June’s session welcomes Tom Seigert, Emma Zammit and local comedian Damien Johnson.
Tom Seigert burst onto the scene in the mid-2000s with a strong performance in the FHM search for Australia’s funniest man. He spent much of his early days on stage at Australia’s biggest comedy club The Comics Lounge, where he enhanced his reputation as a young gun of Australian comedy, supporting some of the best acts in the business; including Dave Hughes, Fiona O’Loughlin and Jimeoin. Tom is now a star in his own right and has found a cult following with his YouTube sensation The Suburban Footballer; a series of short sketches about the goings-on at a local suburban football club. His credentials extend well beyond his stand-up comedy, he has also written and starred in many segments for The Footy Show and in the Channel 7 series Kinne, which won him rave reviews and went to a second series. With a sell-out season at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and Perth Fringe Festival in 2019, Tom has also released two books ‘The Suburban Footballer’ and the kid book ‘Harry and The Magic Footy Tree’ which he also illustrated.
Emma Zammit recently did the support act for Jimeoin whilst he was touring here in Brisbane. She began her standup comedy career in early 2008 after her sister decided it was time to move her one liners out of the lounge room and enrolled her in a standup comedy writing course for the sake of family harmony. Emma’s relaxed and relatable style has been a hit with audiences in comedy clubs and at corporate functions. Her musings on parenthood, people and everyday life make her a highly entertaining performer. Off stage Emma likes to entertain parents with her Podcast and Facebook page “The Parents” that showcases the funnier side of parenting.
Local comedian Damien Johnson may be best known for his work as the broody, moody and altogether dark alt-electro musician, DAMIEN, but every yin has it’s yang, and Johnson’s counterbalancing side takes the form of a wickedly playful and altogether irreverent sense of humour that will have you wondering how the two sides of his personality manage to live with himself.
