In 1992, internationally acclaimed director, Baz Luhrmann wrote and directed Strictly Ballroom, which became an Australian iconic classic and worldwide phenomenon. Ipswich Musical Theatre Company (IMTC) invited Paul Mercurio, Scott Hastings in that iconic movie, to come to Ipswich to be the casting director at auditions for Strictly Ballroom The Musical. Now Ipswich audiences have a chance to relive the magic of Strictly Ballroom, with all the larger than life characters, costumes, glitz and glamour in a kaleidoscope of colour.

Strictly Ballroom The Musical, tells the story of Scott Hastings, a champion ballroom dancer who defies all the rules and follows his heart, finding not only his true calling but also his true love.

Featuring all the well-known songs from the movie, including Time After Time, Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps, and Tequila, along with several new songs by internationally acclaimed artists Sia, David Foster, and Eddie Perfect.

Strictly Ballroom is an Australian iconic classic told with charm, humour, and a true Australian larrikin spirit and, of course, who could forget the classic hit song Love Is In The Air.
