After a string of successful Queensland and international tours, French-born, award-winning singer Pauline Maudy presents a personal show about growing up in two places.
Take Me to Paris is a show about belonging and identity. It’s about our search for an idealised version of heaven on earth, Napoleon’s fascination for Australia, Australia’s fascination for the city of love and everything in between.
One of the truly rare voices on the international world scene, Pauline effortlessly channels the greats in French and English, transporting audiences from Parisian alleyways to New York jazz bars in a heartbeat.
This entertaining, funny and moving show skillfully weaves compelling storytelling, breathtaking music and a thought provoking and humorous exploration of whether the grass really is greener on the other side. Take Me to Paris takes us on a voyage to the mystical city of Paris and right back to the beautiful land we live in.
Born in France, Pauline is an award-winning singer and songwriter. Known for her versatility, stage presence and multilingual singing, she forged her career with her international touring folk band MZAZA while writing and performing across genres. She was recognised as Artist of the Year (solo) 2023 in the Australian Folk Music Awards and has received three Queensland Music Awards for Best World Song through her work with ensemble MZAZA. Pauline strives to contribute to intercultural harmony and inclusion in Australia, delivering workshops, tours and a body of work which celebrates diversity.
For this tour she is joined on stage by standout European and Australian musicians Mircha Mangiacotti (guitar), Peta Wilson (keys), Emma Hales (cello/double bass). Together they punctuate Pauline’s charismatic storytelling by blending repertoire from different genres and eras seamlessly. The show references the likes of Piaf, the Box Tops, Joe Cocker, Ella Fitzgerald (and more!) balanced with engaging original compositions.
