Studio 188, Arts Queensland and Seismic Talent present…

Brothers Geoff and Jake Fabila are descendants of the Jabirr Jabirr tribe in the WA Kimberley and, joined by best mate Felix Fogarty, this Brisbane/Magandjin-based band fuse lava-hot rap flow, blistering guitar, and electronic dance elements, which melt audiences in a crucible of funk, alt. rock, and hip-hop.

Tjaka’s high-energy bangers introduce the use of Didjeribone (a slide didgeridoo, similar to a trombone), ripping guitar solos, and the deep sounds of the FaceBass to create a contemporary Indigenous experience like no other.

Having played Splendour in the Grass, Dark Mofo, The Great Escape (UK), and in front of 30,000 people at Taiwan’s PASIWALI Festival, Tjaka have proved to be a must see act whenever, and wherever they play.

TJAKA will be supported by Master Wolf and The Soul Mechanics!

The Soul Mechanics released their debut EP “Explorations with Master Wolf” in early 2018 via Valley Heat Records and were finalists for best Hip Hop / Rap award at the 2019 Qld Music Awards. The EP is a collaborative effort with local MC and unquestionably dope freestyler; Master Wolf. The opening song “That’s How We Jam” tells the story of how the band and Master Wolf first met.

This program is supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.
